Trekking, Hiking and Camping Gear Summer and Shoulder Seasons

Puez-Geisler-Odle National Park Dolomites

Think lightweight first and foremost for an enjoyable hike!!!!

This is my gear list I cherry pick dependent on requirements and safety concerns. I attempt to keep dry carry weight under 19 pounds in summer, late spring and early autumn during 3-7 day treks. If trekking through Via Ferrata regions I add safety harness, lanyard and helmet for a total dry weight of about 21 pounds. For short weekend 2 night hikes I can lower my weight to under 15 pounds.

*Dry weight is without food, water and fuel.

The Dolomites are my primary trekking, backpacking and photography focus since 2009. I'm a professional trekker first and foremost! Mountain Landscape Photography is a side benefit as I document my primary passion in this unique alpine environment. This website is a recording of my alpine wandering over 4 decades. Several of my best mountain landscape images are from the early 1980s. My passions are ultralight hiking / trekking, cross country / downhill / tour skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking, scuba diving, golfing and photography.
